Omaha Summer Arts Festival
Join us for the 42nd Annual Omaha Summer Arts Festival June 10-12. The Festival is Omaha's premier destination for arts and entertainment featuring 135 of the nation's finest visual artists, a stage of continuous musical performances and a hands-on children's fair. Whatever your passion, interest or curiosity - you will find it at the Omaha Summer Arts Festival! With two stages and a variety of informal staging areas scattered alongside the Gene Leahy Mall, the Omaha Summer Arts Festival offers three days of nonstop musical entertainment featuring dozens of local, regional and national performers. The festival provides a musical experience that is rich with multicultural talent and diversity of styles including: blues, jazz, latin, reggae, gospel, calypso, alternative, rock, folk, disco and big band. You'll find a wide variety of delectable delights at Tastefest, a popular spot for many festival-goers. With booths spread throughout the site, the festival offers everything from your traditional festival food to a simple snack, dessert or cold beverage. Flatwater Music Festival
The summer season brings lots of music to the heartland at county fairs and festivals across the plains. One of the best is the Flatwater Music Festival at Hastings Nebraska, Thursday June 23rd through Saturday June 25th. There will be lots of live music on two stages, kids activities, music jams and workshops, a beer garden, food and art. You easily can make an entire weekend out of the Flatwater Music Festival. There is a pre-festival concert Thursday night and lots to do Friday and Saturday. Today, we'll visit with Amy Sandeen, executive director; Kerry Semrad with the band "'The Bottle Tops"' , and Bob Josjor, who runs the sound and handles the technical part of the shows. We'll have all the information you need, and we'll hear from some of the bands that'll be performing at the Flatwater Music Festival in Hastings, one of Nebraska's great summer events for whole family. Homestead Days - Beatrice
The community of Beatrice in southeast Nebraska celebrates the heritage of the great plains during the 2016 Homestead Days. The homestead act of 1862 granted land to settlers across the west, and the first homestead was just outside of Beatrice. The commemoration and celebration attracts thousands during the week-long schedule of events. We'll visit with Abby Schademann and Lora Young with the Beatrice Chamber of Commerce and learn why the 2016 Homestead Days celebration is the perfect stop for a side trip or a family vacation. There's a parade with more than 13,000 in attendance, fishing competitions, a 10k "'fun run"' and a Homestead Days talent show.
